Introductie

Wereldleider op het gebied van bluesharp, zanger en songwriter Giles Robson is door de legendarische Alligator Records beschreven als "A blues giant, absolute master of the form". Hij is de enige Britse of Europese artiest die op het label verschijnt. Hij werd geprezen door Grammy-winnaar Sugar Blue en Paul Jones van Manfred Mann als een van de grote levende blues-harmonicaspelers.

Een van de slechts drie Britse bluesartiesten naast Eric Clapton en Peter Green die een felbegeerde Blues Music Award won in Memphis (The Grammys of the blues), voor de samenwerking Journeys To The Heart Of The Blues met Joe Louis Walker en Bruce Katz. Het album werd gekozen als een van THIRTY ALBUMS OF THE DECADE door 's werelds toonaangevende LIVING BLUES MAGAZINE.

Hij speelt en zingt krachtige, emotionele en tijdloze mondharmonicablues. Robson wordt algemeen beschouwd als een virtuoos op zijn instrument met een geheel eigen stijl. Ook hebben de liveshows van een ervaren zanger en songwriter Robson hem een reputatie opgeleverd als een geweldige liveartiest.

Hij sluit zich aan bij de grootste bluesmuzikanten van Frankrijk, elk met een ongelooflijke stamboom. Boogie Woogie en Blues-pianist Philippe Lejeune en wereldleider en ongelooflijke en veelgevraagde Franse drummer Pascal Delmas.

In de late jaren vijftig was Memphis Slim een van de vele Afro-Amerikaanse jazz- en bluesmuzikanten die van Parijs hun thuis maakten. Hij werd een enorme ster - hij verscheen honderden keren op de Franse tv, verkocht enorme stijlvolle theaters uit, reed door de stad in één van verschillende Rolls Royces die hij bezat.

Philippe Lejeune uit Toulouse was de grootste leerling van Memphis Slim. Hoewel hij zo slank was, nam hij in 1980 een duo-album met hem op genaamd "Dialog In Boogie", dat als een meesterwerk van het genre wordt beschouwd, en hij nodigde Philippe ook uit om met hem te spelen bij vele concerten in heel Europa.

Pascal Delmas is een van Europa's toonaangevende bluesdrummers die heeft gewerkt met een ongelooflijke lijst van topbluesartiesten, waaronder EDDIE-C-CAMPBELL, EDDIE TAYLOR Jr, RJ MISCHO, GENE TAYLOR, LURRIE BELL, BIG GEORGE BROCK en nog veel, veel meer.

When Paris Met the Blues will also feature a special guest appearance from  Robbin “The Soul Shaker” Kapsalis, making her debut European performance.  Robbin was born on the Southside of Chicago and soaked up the sounds of the legendary blues city before moving to be raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Featuring a powerful and commanding voice that is steeped in the greasy and dirty but still emotionally effecting side of blues, Robbin has all the understanding of the classic phrasing, textures and rhythm of the music. She adds something fresh and sassy to the mix too - so is very much rooted in our time. And as a charismatic front woman, she is second to none with an energy level that is unrivalled in the blues scene today. Think Sharon Jones of the Dap Kings meets Koko Taylor and you might have an idea of the talent level on display here. Her first appearance in Europe at the Banana Peel - once Euro blues fans witness her talent we are sure of long and successful European visits ahead!

Chicago legends Wells, Cotton and Branch have a worthy heir to the blues harp throne.
